Parent Resources

Parent involvement is vital for student success.  Even if your schedule is packed, there are simple things you can do to help your student do well in Language Arts:

  • Make school attendance and punctuality a priority - it is much easier for children to learn if they are in class
  • Check to see if homework is complete - you don't have to correct it, just make sure it is done
  • Ask your student specific questions about what they learned in class that day
  • Encourage reading for pleasure
    • Ask them about the books they are reading or subjects they are studying
    • If you have the time, read the books they are reading in class and discuss them
  • Encourage your student to write - journals, stories, letters
  • Let your student know you think what they do in school is important
  • If you have a concern, contact the teacher
