Parent involvement is vital for student success. Even if your schedule is packed, there are simple things you can do to help your student do well in Language Arts:
- Make school attendance and punctuality a priority - it is much easier for children to learn if they are in class
- Check to see if homework is complete - you don't have to correct it, just make sure it is done
- Ask your student specific questions about what they learned in class that day
- Encourage reading for pleasure
- Ask them about the books they are reading or subjects they are studying
- If you have the time, read the books they are reading in class and discuss them
- Encourage your student to write - journals, stories, letters
- Let your student know you think what they do in school is important
- If you have a concern, contact the teacher
